From Paper to Portrait

I have so many stories in my head that I wish to turn into art one way or another.

My inspiration behind his shoot concept came from listening to “Smoke Sprite” by So!YoON! ft RM, watching the music video, and scrolling on Pinterest one night.

Additionally, I knew I wanted to incorporate masculine and feminine elements into the shoot through both the styling and expressions.

The ideas of “soul ties” also really struck me was well. Physically and visually using ties and formal wear as part of the outfits, I wanted to exemplify the feeling that pulling away from someone you’re bound to or have unresolved business with business with will hurt and scar the other person as much as it affects you.

Asking my best friend, who I once had a falling out with, to be my model made this creative endeavor especially meaningful to me. I’m also very grateful for my photographers and videographers for capturing my vision.

I have more future projects planned for materializing the experience of gender dysphoria and how to hold space in yourself to nurture multiple modes of being at once.
